Analysis of A Nigger's Nigga Mentality
Bary McMillan Hunte 1978 (Castries)
They sit on their blocks throwing rocks from Glocks
May seem funny that chains and rings are educational blings
And so we have a nigga moment!
You see we sully each other serving bread and murder
Shoveling drugs up our noses making our kids push up daisies
Drinks are the rave the latest booze at our graves
Blood of innocence run deep as slums overrun by pushers and creeps
And guns are just for fun posing on Facebook and Instagram
And so we have a nigga moment!
Using that welfare cheque for parties and vaval
Whilst their kids by the roadside begging with outstretched hands
Brothers with $100 salaries wearing $400 niceties
Sisters with no baby daddy leaving baby for Granny
And while they're out on their girls' night unwittingly seeking the next sperm donor
Next day you see them on Maury and he's saying, "You're not the Father!"
And so we have a nigga moment!
Men calling each other dogs as women become bitches
Infighting when one moves forward cause just to give compliments is totally awkward
You see we colour fight like it's a natural thing
I'm fair, I'm chestnut, I'm breadnut!
But as far as other races care, nigga you'se black!
And so we have a nigga moment!
But then you see that's the fatal flaw of our humanity
Not only for our ungratefulness but we forget our past adversity
As generation after generation,
The pain, the heartache, the blood and sweat of our forefathers gets lost in transliteration.
When true stories of those masters' whips, those shackles and slaver ships
Become a fanciful fairy tale at our dinner table
Like a Brothers Grimm ghost story campfire fable.
We've no memory of how our freedom was bought over the grounds we now walk
Soaked with the blood of our ancestors in cotton fields and under sugarcane grinders.
You see we're still trapped in a slavery of our own making
Whilst we buy a different kind of brand traded from iron prongs
For modern day massas curse us for their wares
Saying that their products weren't meant for blacks to wear
Yet we empty our babies bellies to satisfy these beasts' financial securities.
And while our streets run red from knives and guns
Tell me who really prospers from the cocaine funds?
How many times must we like biblical Israel play Creator of our own downfall
Plainly forgetting the humiliations of the Martin Luther King Jrs, the Rosa Parks, the Malcolm Xs, the Marcus Garveys,
Their lynches and kicks, their murders and spits,
Just for you to enjoy what you squander and take for kiks!
You see we've forgotten what it truly meant to be a nigger
While we go on destroying ourselves and each other
Praising our sanctimonious nigga mentality
Forgetting to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery
And so we have a nigga moment!

About this poem
I wrote this poem when I realized the mentality of the blacks in my small island especially the ghettos. I wrote this to get them to fully understand what a nigger was and why I refused to be called a nigga.
