Analysis of The Hangman
Ax.Barajas 1980 (Illinois)
The Hangman cometh,
The Hangmans gonna take you a way.
Feel the noose around your neck as it
tightens. The trap door opens, you start to
choke. Your brain goes in shocked.
Hard to breath, your body begins to sway.
The Hangmans got a grip on you.
Your mind floods with memories trying to
avoid the pain.
You start to close your eyes. The more you try
you feel the weight beneath your feet too
unbearable. Start to drift, start to lose
consciousness.
Hangman shruges never fazed behind his
potato sack.
Knows your fate. Fighting to hold a
little longer. Your pulse starts to race, your
blood starts to drain.
Hope is gone, you start to pray in your head
The Hangman cometh with no remorse.
Wood creaks, wood breaks a gush of air
across your face.
The rope snaps thy mighty angel sword
prevails. You fall feel the ground
beneath your feet. Your body is
numb a voice speaks to you Get Up! No time
to waste. Like the sound of thunder crashing
against the heavens shakes your soul
You have been given a second chance.
The Hangman is in disbelief.
The Hangman cometh his hand reaches.
You close your eyes and hold your breath
You open your eyes and look to see.
That beneath this stained potato sack.
The Hangman was you all along.

About this poem
I wrote this through a dream I had to express the many ways life's obstacles hammer us down that litterally shakes from our core. We start to doubt and give in. "Through pain and sorrow we accomplish life that is the main purpose."
