Analysis of Venusian Vicissitude

While lying in fitful slumber one night
I bore witness to a heavenly sight
For there appeared at the foot of my bed
A spirit beauteous that filled me with dread.

Gazing at me, her smile so beguiling
She quickly had this troubled soul smiling
“Who are you and what do you want?” I cried.
“I’m Venus, Goddess of Love,” she replied.

“The summons of a soul blue to the core
Caused my appearance in this world once more.
Explain to me, dear mortal one, why
Your loneliness always makes your heart cry.”

“I need a true love and want to find one
But as yet my weary heart has found none.
I yearn to espy the love of my life
To woo and to court her then make her my wife.”

“Tell me,” she said raising arms above her
“What you desire, you need in a lover.”
Then a sparkling fine mist slowly appeared
And while I spoke out it gradually neared.

Telling of a woman with large green eyes
I wanted, I was to soon realize,
Her silky red hair to flow and cascade
Over creamy smooth shoulders, perfectly made.

With her smile telling of pleasures in store
Velvet lips wanting, inviting and more.
Steady and true will be this woman’s heart
And I’ll never fear that one day we’ll part

Then appeared in the mist over her head
The woman for whom my lonely heart bled
She showed me a vision perfect and true
That vision, my darling, that vision was you.
