Analysis of A poem of Jest

How did I, yet again coerce
myself into submitting verse
What subtly entered as a test
now has me striving towards the best
I should have known, by coming near
that you would charm my way in here
And though annoyed by right should be
I find myself in utter glee
of likely having failed my test
but successing in a poem of jest
Such humor after taxing days
doth chase away the moody grays
A polychrome of rainbow hues
creates a pink from out of blues
A lifting of such spirits fine
does overcome this mood of mine
Propensity to see such light
perhaps will fill you with a fright
So joy have I, did you coerce
myself into submitting verse.
