Analysis of Just a Dream
I fell asleep
In our flowered field
During a blue Tuesday noon
I leaned against the old tree
And dreamt dreams of you
But it wasn't as I thought,
an' I prayed they weren't true
Cause I saw you with her
Such sickly sweet smiles
Your hands tucked away
Into hers
I toss and turn
You stoke her hair
I scream
You don't care
Your eyes so tightly locked
I'll never find the key
To unlock this nightmare
And make us happy
I try and grasp you
But you run away
I can't run fast enough
I'm left astray
But then something reminds me
It's just a dream
Don't bother to cry
Don't bother to scream
Because none of it's real
Just open your eyes
Your love is still there
Cause love never dies
I sigh in content
And awake from the nap
Only to cry out
The heart strings 'ave snapped
Our flowered field 'as died
Everything was true
And I'm left picking grass
Not thinking of you
