Analysis of The Black Girl Inside
Ripe, full, juicy
Surrounded with a deep succulent rapture
Spilling out into a wide expanse
Lost in the universe of sound
Purple, red, yellow, green
Not found on the dusty, grimy streets
Yellow eyes found in the whiff of an alcoholic smell
Offering ten dollars to get one taste of Heaven
Step on a crack, break your mothers back
Then crack took over in a Pimp's attack
Red streaming around
Coming from a womb torn down
As fantasies turn into lies
There are no more pretty butterflies
Speak softly to her
She has lost her pride
Swallowed up in the pit of no return
Lost is her forever gift
Hardened in her heart a no return gift
She has found her purple haze and
The Beast with his yellow gaze
Does she have the right to pray?
Has God forgotten this girl of the night?
A brown braided woman who must always fight
Her womb polluted with the harshness of the world
Eyes looking at her
Memories of a past beautiful pearl
Big brown thighs still shapely but
Abused and used not playfully
No one ever understood
In her eyes, she showed premature womanhood
From a father who wanted a new thrill and
A mother who just wanted to keep her man
It started soon out of the womb as
The mother tried everything she could to
Keep herself sexy and cute
Losing the battle suddenly
Not realizing he was always a sick puppy
Not a man worth any of her time
Bitterness set in and without understanding
Little girl lost was the only blame she could find
She smiled once
She laughed once
Once she bathed in the sun
As the sun washed over her brown skin
Igniting in her a future dream
Torn from her 'Spirit' by the cruelty of the world
She was left an unheard scream
Then a kind 'Soul', an ancestor of 'Old'
Took her and folded her in her arms
She whispered,
"Baby please scream then you can breathe."
"I will hold you as long as you need."
"I will sit right here until the world ends if it will only help you see."
She screamed then and
In that one woeful sound, her voice was finally found
Her release finally coming forth
Spewing from her mouth in
Rivers of distasteful hot flim
She, could finally breathe again
All the years of her torment came out
The ugliness that covered her like a mountain
Of bubbling red hot blood spewing from a fountain
Gently fell into a comforting mist
All the shame entwined within
As her tears fell
She found God in the bottom of that well and
Once again she was touched by the sun's veil
A long journey ahead but
She finds gladness in her stead
Awaiting the journey, not really the destination
Although recovery is a minute away
She has found her inner child and she prays
To learn the when and whys of all the passing years
She keeps her eyes to the sky
Knowing finally and for all time
The Black girl inside can
Finally heal!
