Why We Whine
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
The spice of variety.
And those rights given,
To feel entitled to self indulge.
Has many desperately to leave,
An impression that meets...
Someone's approval to accept,
Left pleased.
Yet...
Disappointed still.
We will find time to prioritize...
And undermine,
A blessing it is to get and receive...
A life given to adventure and explore,
An abundance of opportunities.
Without it being earned.
Or...
Can explain why we whine.
Complaining!
Most of us choose to do.
About who does what and how.
In a society that offers,
Everyone...
Debts to pay to stay that way.
For their entire lives to live.
Oweing.
But not claiming to own,
Their headaches.
Chase we do,
Those dreams and wishes.
In the hope to keep up appearances.
The core of pretensions.
Whether they go ignored or not.
'Why can you not just be happy?'
'And not have anyone notice,
The cost and price I paid for it?
Are you kidding?
What do you take me for?
A bargain basement shopper?
That may be okay for you.
But I am not you!
Okay?'
'All I'm saying is you can not please,
EVERYBODY!'
'There you go, again.
Trying to convince me,
What it is I can't do!
Not only am I a rational human being.
But negativity like that?
Keep to yourself.
Thank God I am blessed.
And capable to ignore your nonsense!'
'When...
Am I ever going to learn?'
'If I were you,
I would be asking God that question.
Since God knows,
I have said and done...
All that I can possibly do!
And 'still'...
That message,
You want me to believe is mine.
Lord?
What on Earth,
Have you done inside heads like this?
