Entertained By It
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Truth to abuse and accuse,
Its existence offends...
Those living in denial.
High on pretensions.
Is an honest admission.
For anyone who has experienced,
Lies told on them to endure the cure...
Of surviving through,
Lies told on them...
By professional deceivers.
Trained.
And from birth,
To dupe and hoodwinked first.
Before learning how to walk.
But taught to say,
'Me crook. You stupid.
And fool of you me make!'
Leaving thieves,
And homegrown criminals...
Ecstatic!
Stopping in the midst of acts,
Performing attacks against decency.
Brought to tears.
Weeping.
And taking minutes...
To find a calendar to highlight the day,
Cigars were passed around.
Congratulating...
The newest member,
Indoctrinated...
Into a society to learn what it takes,
Having the basics understood.
A prerequisite to a life,
Without delusions to confuse reality.
Inside of the sweetened smothering,
Of candy coated B.S.
And...
Regardless of which animal is picked,
To animate...
A liberal version of democracy.
Or...
A nasty fire blowing dragon.
The villain.
Shown with fangs dripping blood.
But...
Depicted to represent,
Qualities of thoughtful conservatives.
'Oh...
I can't take anymore.'
We all should know by now,
Extravagant is the price...
To pay to stay horrified of the truth.
'Yeah...but...'
Yet...
An expense to enter,
Into an amusement park.
We wait to rush to 'The Dark House'.
Creating shocks and horrors,
More terrifying than reality can be...
Is what a democracy crumbling apart,
Offers.
Especially,
For the ones who can not get enough,
Of destruction to self inflict.
As if entertained by it!
