Pen And Purpose
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Most who remain to stay determined.
And driven with a decisive mission.
Find a way to document,
First with pen and purpose.
To serve a broader vision from its limits.
This adventure to begin,
Starts with an initiative.
Having nothing to do with attention.
Since one who journeys alone,
Gets none to request it.
Or solicit to condone.
More of this incentive initiated,
Seems to come...
From an unknown entity to direct.
That knows who to pick and choose,
To perform tasks as tools to use.
And placed to adventure,
Upon different and separate paths.
Unsuspecting what it is they do,
Craving with curiosity.
Stays to remain,
Conversationally controversial.
As if time had stopped to not move on!
'Wait a minute.
It is nearing the end,
Of the year 2021.
Am I the only one aware of that?
Here we are,
Debating to argue our points of views.
Over something someone has done,
Before any of us had been born!
And why?
OK!
I'll put it this way,
Can anyone 'pretend' to know why.'
'Perhaps...
That answer,
Remains to stay with the crickets.'
'And...uh...
What do you mean by that?
God,
Has dared me to ask.'
'Well...
No one here is asleep.
And I noticed immediately,
The only response I heard...
After that question you asked,
Seconds ago?
Had been the sound of crickets!
Clearly to hear them through the silence.
It wouldn't hurt right now,
If we focused our attention...
On the sound they make to listen.'
'And what sense would that make?'
'I am neither a psychic or prophet.
However I am willing to bet,
Doing that would make more sense...
Than debating to argue,
Over something that has none!
There it is again.
You hear them?
