Built By Immigrants
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
There is an America.
Quilted together
With a uniting of states.
And built by immigrants.
Of different ethnic faces.
To have arrived on these shores.
Centuries ago.
Before labels were created.
And placed on their backs,
For humiliation purposes.
During these times centuries ago.
There had been many immigrants to come.
Sharing their stories.
And embellishments sold to tell told.
About enduring horrific dictates.
To declare themselves,
Pioneering descendants...
Of religious peace keepers.
To have escaped away,
From the unbearable treatment...
Of kings and queens.
Sitting on thrones.
Handed down through the ages,
By related family members.
This they nolonger could tolerate.
And found a way to escape.
To live life free as human beings.
Following to obey, they say,
It had been God's will for them to be.
Free!
These days we now experience to live.
Those wishes to want,
Have been replaced with greed.
And those immigrants of descendants.
Different in race and ethnic persuasion.
Today are treated as if...
Threatening aliens of a democracy.
Undeserving to be entitled,
To the benefits of a quality of life.
A life their ancestors died to receive.
Although they too did not get.
And yet...
Disparities they get abundantly.
Received by the very ones,
Who protest and have the nerve to say...
They own what they did not build.
And what has been built,
Today is being stolen from them.
To exaggerate and embellish this.
With tantrums thrown.
And a power shown...
Like children who have been,
Fed delusions to crave...
A power to ruin and destroy,
Everything given.
If...
They don't get their fictionalized way.
To portray.
In movies they have been taught to teach,
And watch to learn their history.
Regardless of the omission of facts.
Or truth that distracts,
The colorful and panoramic fiction of it!
