Left Here to Wonder

Linda Vargas 1974 (Hartford)

As I lay here in the dark and I can't hear myself think.   Too many thoughts floating through my head, I feel as if it's going to explode.

Don't you see me? Can't you see I'm alive somewhere in this body?  Trapped, with nowhere to go, must I die so slowly? Must I corrode?

In the emptyness that once was my soul, I can feel the memories of my existence lingering... for their trying to hang on to what once existed!

It's dark, so cold, there's no one that can save me... Deep down to the belowy  echoes of my darkness I dwell.  Tormented by my demons, brutally beaten, and twisted!

No, don't turn off the light, don't take away my last breathe, can't you see I'm still alive?  Pondering through this darkness, peeling away through the pain,to the further I plunder..

I'm not yet gone, I'm waiting for my salvation... I'm hoping someone or something saves me. Nevertheless, I'm left here all alone... All alone to suffer and wonder!

What is to become of my soul?
