Thankful Deliverance
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I love God my Lord,
He has heard my voice;
My praise I afford,
To sing and rejoice.
My pleas for mercy,
He inclined His ear;
So my sight can see,
Of Him being near.
I will call on Him,
As long as I live;
A wrong makes life grim,
But He will forgive.
The snares of death fall,
To encompass me;
The pangs of hell call,
As I try to flee.
I suffered distress,
In finding sorrow;
I pray to confess,
To help in my woe.
I called on His name,
To rescue my soul;
While I proclaim,
That God takes control.
Gracious is the Lord,
God is merciful;
For He is adored,
And is beautiful.
For the Lord preserves,
When I was brought low;
Though no one deserves,
The blessings that flow.
Return, O my soul,
By taking your rest;
For reaching my goal,
By doing my best.
For the Lord has dealt,
So bountifully;
To laud as I knelt,
Being gratefully.
