Christ Alive
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
As you received Jesus as Lord,
Walk rooted and built up in Him;
Established and in one accord,
For building your spiritual vim.
Just the same as you have been taught,
Abound therein with thanksgiving;
See to it that no one has sought,
To take captive of your living.
Philosophy with vain deceit,
Regarding to your transition;
Spirits in trying to defeat,
Jesus Christ in opposition.
The whole fullness of deity,
Of the Godhead that dwells bravely;
By fulfilling your purity,
To counteract what is gravely.
You are comprehensive in Christ,
Who has all the authority;
Rule over who become enticed,
For defeating iniquity.
In Him you have been circumcised,
Circumcision made without hands;
Putting off flesh when crucified,
For the sins against His commands.
Through baptism they are buried,
Through faith you are raised from the dead;
On the cross they had been carried,
His flesh and blood you have been fed.
You were dead in your trespasses,
Uncircumcised flesh in your sin;
God forgave of such practices,
As His Spirit cleanses within.
By cancelling records of debt,
That stood against legal demands;
So, you no longer need to fret,
Infractions of any commands.
He disarmed the authorities,
And have put them to open shame;
Triumph over iniquities,
Strengthening when you do proclaim.
