Sculptured
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Erected.
Statues.
Worshipped to idolize,
In steel encased to symbolize...
A society sculptured from images.
To represent a diversified,
Acceptance of all ethnic cultures.
Done to present,
One democracy.
With a doing to document,
Equal entitlements given to all.
Although...
Unmentioned are exceptions.
Or the status had,
By arriving immigrants.
To scrutinize their heritage to assess.
By those who too were immigrants.
Having no one to scrutinize them.
With such assessing excessive tests.
As centuries and decades,
Began to show...
An aging of that united quilt built.
Demonstrating haters begun to expose,
Their opposition.
And negative dispositions.
With a wish to want,
Themselves viewed and seen...
The creators of a greatness.
To have achieved alone,
A known greatness on their own.
Done to have shown,
Without other faces of ethnic races.
Who had participated in contributing,
Blood, sweat and patriotic deeds.
To a way of life!
But this right,
Was never to them received equally.
And as time moved on,
With a chipping away to re-write the facts.
Those standing on the backs,
Of the ones disenfranchised.
While historically attacked,
For their patriotic acts.
Were ridiculed and labeled,
Useless dependent fools to use.
Fed to feed the masses,
On a decaying sweetness of deception.
Continuing to do.
Unconsciously to refuse...
A culture sculptured false to present,
Built on hypocrisy and decadence.
Ultimately crumbles.
To have nothing else to blame or claim,
That their grabbing for power...
Was not the result to see themselves,
As rulers to believe...
Could and can exist to fiction reality!
'The sky is falling.
The sky is falling!'
'Will someone tell Chicken Little,
That performance is overdone.
The entire World is falling apart.
And informed those other chickens,
Coming home to roost...
To be prepared to prove,
Their patriotic status.'
'They are waving their passports.
Visas and birth certificates!'
'And...
What about their vaccine status?
Along with booster shots.
For those declared qualified to get them?'
'But...
This is their homeland too!'
'Look...
No one these days,
Could care who crows the loudest.
Okay?'
'But...
They are not immigrants.
How should we refer to them?'
'Nomads.
Refugees.
Whatever.
We are here to obey and follow orders.
That's it!'
'So...
Cruel.
And inhumane!'
'You get paid in two weeks.
You'll be over it by then.'
'Money isn't everything!'
'I know.
But, for whatever the reason...
When I enjoyed being unemployed?
Not one of my creditors,
Accepted my pitiful voice.
And my real sobbing tears,
As an excuse not to pay...
What I owed them.
Get my drift?
