Instinctive
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Human beings we are.
Born with consciousness.
And minds to use to choose and pick,
Which directions to decide...
The best we can,
To please that choice...
We hope satisfies,
What it is inside of us to believe...
Makes sense.
Yet...
Regardless of intelligence.
And a consciousness to be born with.
There stays to remain within us all,
An animalistic instinctive urge...
To display as if encouraged,
That need to usurp and take away...
From others,
By any means necessary...
What is not ours to have earned it.
But the thrill to steal and destroy,
Is more enjoyed than the sharing...
Of what God has created in abundance!
'Your depiction is suspiciously,
A barbaric description...
Of wild and undomesticated,
Cave dwelling animals.
And not sophisticated human beings.'
I know.
That's why sometimes I wonder,
What intelligence to have it.
With a consciousness,
To use common sense...
Actually means?
When none of that is in abundance.
Here, there or anywhere,
Is applied to be seen!
'Perhaps,
That is still...
God's work in progress.
You know...
Everything has yet to be perfected.'
I guess you are right.
Afterall,
Whose to say,
God is not aware...
Of the mistakes made.
And doing His best to correct them.
'Yeah!
In the most mysterious of ways!'
You've got jokes.
'That maybe true.
But look around.
You see anybody laughing?
I don't.
This madness is sick!'
That depends on how you're looking at it.
'What do you mean?'
Who else but God,
Would have this kind of humor...
Only He is left to understand.
'Now...
That's funny.'
Is it?
'I think it's hysterical.'
And from my observation...
You are not alone!
However...
Me?
I'm close to throwing up.
From an instinctive incentive,
To purge myself now and not later.
'Have you considered doing stand up?'
Stand up?
Stand up what?
'Comedy!'
I'm serious.
'I know.
That's what makes you funny.'
And...
If I was not serious,
What then would I be?
'A cave dwelling clown!
