Killing Fiction
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Killing fiction!
So difficult is this process.
And its affect,
On an unacceptable society.
Receiving entitlements,
With embedded beliefs.
Proud to pledge to a way of life.
And entertained.
By a truth reduced of its reality.
Day and night.
Escalating to eliminate,
All that is real to replace it faced.
And...
This fantasized normality,
Fed to feed an unconscious society...
Has become an unexpected activity,
To witness so many,
Protesting to object a realty...
Spreading to threaten with death.
A way of life to have known as the best.
And, overnight it seems.
For so many awakening,
From their fairytale dreams.
Horrified with disbelief.
The signs of warnings to come,
Has descended upon them.
Like a storm that came with nowhere to run!
'HI. Hello.
We have come to visit your wonderful land.
And so beautiful it is from where we stand.
However...
We did not expect,
How the people express...
Their joy and excitement.
None of this we have not seen,
Addressed on our TV's and movie screens.
Is this...
Some kind of holiday or celebration?'
'Holiday?
Celebration?
What do you mean?'
'The people.
Screaming as if horrified.
What an unusual way,
To express such enthusiasm.'
'OH!
That?
Well...
Some of us more diversified,
Have become very familiar...
With this sight you see before your eyes.
For many?
This has become an unwelcomed custom.'
'OH!
Oh?
So...
What are you saying?'
'Enjoy your visit.
Although,
Painful could be the withdrawal symptoms.
Too much of an addiction,
Can produce long lasting mental defects.
And prolonging to digest a dieting on it,
May take expensive medication...
To test your mental and physical endurance.'
'You're funny.'
'I've been told that.
Until I realize how hysterical I had become.
Enjoy your visit.
Oh, here before you go,
Take my cellphone number.'
'Okay.'
'I happen to know a great doctor.
I can refer you to him.
Depending upon if your visit,
Is decided to become a permanent one!'
'You are so funny!'
'Trust me,
Those withdrawal symptoms?
Are no joke!
