Best Performance Of The Year
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
All things,
From an idea to conceive...
Done to initiate,
Its implementation.
Has to, with time, begin somewhere!
With patience required.
And corrections made.
Before anyone can believe,
The end result should for them be seen.
To approve or disapprove,
Whose efforts are being endeavored.
For their benefit,
That enhances their way of life.
'Why do people have to go,
To medical school?
Just to become a doctor?
Or sit to listen to a teacher,
Who has not won an Emmy or an Oscar?
For their award winning performance,
Dramatically portrayed...
Seen on TV or movies?'
'None of that,
Has anything to do with truth and reality.'
'I'm glad you said that.
Because...
That's what I keep saying,
To my school teachers.
Who insist upon telling me,
Learning science, math, and sociology...
Has benefits even for those like me.
Wanting someday to be...
A basketball star.
Or maybe a rapper.
Doing my thing.
And getting paid much more,
Than any teacher trying to convince me...
I must sit and pay attention,
To that nonsense that distracts...
From my dream of having,
Adoring and applauding fans!'
'Oh...
So glad I am I took my medications,
Earlier today.'
'Huh?'
'And...
Perhaps that is the reason,
Most parents remain disbelieving...
It is not their children,
But unqualified overpaid teachers.
And better schools needed to be built.
To accommodate the minds,
Of their inquisitive thirsting for knowledge...
Undisciplined to listen children.'
'Well...
That's what I'm saying.
None of that is mentioned,
On TV.
Or any movie I've seen.'
'And...
If it was would you sit to watch,
With a listening to pay attention?'
'That depends.'
'Depends?
Depends on what?'
'Who has been nominated to receive,
The best performance...
Of the year.
For an acting to do,
They know nothing about.
Instead of pretending they know so much.
In a classroom, especially.
Without one thing worn that 'blings'.
You have no idea,
How boring it is to sit and listen...
To someone like that,
Who has no movie or TV experience!'
'Hmmm...
Who knows.
Maybe God has this as a plan!'
'Naw!
I don't think so.'
'Why do You say that?'
'With all that power,
God is claimed to have?
Why did it take Him 7 whole days,
To create the Earth?
To then ask some 'strangers'...
Should we make man in OUR image?
Comeon.
Even then,
I bet He was attempting to one day become...
Some kind of popular politician.
And I also bet not one of them he asked,
Had coaching or acting experience!'
'Dear Father in Heaven,
What have You...
Allowed us to do to our children?'
'You don't have to ask God that question.
I am sitting right here.
To give you my quick fast to get response.'
'Do any of your teachers drink?'
'Which ones?
The substitute teachers?
Or...
The regular ones?
I do have my suspicions,
About the substitutes.
The regulars?
Don't seem to want to be around us,
Too long.
Maybe they drink.
I do know this about them,
When they do come...
They are quick to disappear.
As if to be magicians!
But...
They can't be that good at it.'
'Why do you say that?'
'Not one have I seen on TV.'
