Kids
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
We call and refer to today's children,
As just kids.
Protecting to defend,
What they intend to do.
And make excuses for what they did.
Perceiving them innocent.
Of being influenced,
By a truth we refuse to accept...
To believe is the cause and reason,
Their minds to use...
Are not their own to abuse and amuse,
Those deluded and limited to fiction...
A way of life,
Purposely functioning on fantasies.
Fed to feed tall stories to tell and sell.
Sold and bought to isolate ourselves,
From the painful effects of reality.
We call and refer to today's children,
As kids.
Doing what their parents did.
With a doing to ignore and accept,
Having no discipline or respect for others.
And remaining irresponsible to neglect,
A growing up...
Without being made accountable,
For our actions...
Has its consequences to pay.
And blaming to accuse,
Others for that which we intend to do...
Ultimately leaves,
A society sickened with a seeking to find...
Something,
Anything that cures and heals...
What has been condoned.
But this to own and self examine,
Still will leave...
Many sold and told to believe,
It is not the truth...
We are incapable to accept.
It is the image of a way of life,
That has become more diversified.
And representing a democracy...
Flawed by too much,
Exposure to ethnicity!
'That explanation makes no sense at all.
Where on Earth do you get,
Such nonsense to assess...
A way of life,
We have sold to sell...
As being envied and jealously successful.'
'Observation.
And refusing to continue,
To accept and deny...
It is not my eyes,
That to me lie.'
'So what are you attempting to say?
Most of us have been groomed,
To lie to ourselves?
With a doing to refuse and deny the truth?
For what it is to ignore?'
'Well...
Seeing is believing.
However...
Many kids today,
Who have grown up...
Imitating the ways of adults.
Have been taught to stay children.
And nothing else to expect from them!'
'Oh yeah?
Well...
My children were raised,
The same way I had been.'
'You get no argument to start with me!
Like I said,
I am an observer.
And my eyes refuse,
To be of service to those...
Who lie to themselves and others.'
'How rude, sarcastic and cynical.'
'You left out one despicable thing,
You have not called me.'
'Oh yeah?
And what would that be?'
'Disgustingly honest!'
'That too!
I'm willing to bet,
You are the life of any party.'
'I don't get many invitations.'
'I'm shocked. You're kidding?'
