No!
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Saying No!
Should no one misinterpret,
As a maybe or perhaps.
Not heard to hear,
To mean something different.
Since being agreeable to everything,
Seldom leaves anyone feeling satisfied.
Later to realize a lie to tell told,
Maybe accepted to sell sold.
But that doing to undo to admit,
Only begins to create...
With others dishonest,
Unnecessary arguments.
Anyone these days,
Unafraid with attempts made...
To be truthful and honest.
Will feel themselves ostracized.
As if they had leprosy.
And cast away to live,
The rest of their abandoned life...
Despised for daring to commit,
An integrity to have with dignity.
Saying 'no' to not agree,
With others already professional liars.
Is as appalling to them,
As someone not adoring...
The fresh smell,
Of their collected B.S. to reject it.
Leaving one left feeling attacked,
If they refuse to take back,
A 'no'!
Heard to hear it said to mean.
'I'm sorry.
But we all are stunned,
By something we know you did not mean.
And prepared we are,
To accept your apology!
Again...
You meant 'Yes' right?'
'No is what I said.
And...
I feel to address further explanations,
To express a 'why' with reasons...
Is not my thing!'
'Are you absolutely out of your mind?'
'You know,
That had not occurred to me before.
However...
If you believe to be out of my mind.
And crazed?
This is the first time anyone noticed,
How happy I am...
To remain and stay regarded as a fool.
And accept I do your assessment.'
'I told you all before,
We had scheduled to have this meeting.
Of my suspicions there had been,
A spying liberal Democrat amongst us.
And here he is,
In living color...
Daring to defy our allegiance,
To steadfast ignorance.'
'Please.
Please don't accept all the credit for that.
I had always been,
An independent voter.'
'Listen to this traitor admitting treason.
And daring us,
To open wide our lieing eyes!
And with such,
Abrasive and appalling integrity.
Where do weasels like this come from?'
