Chemical Imbalance
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
I have yet to know or met anyone,
Who could afford to excuse...
Their abusive swift changing,
Moody attitudes.
On a chemical imbalance.
To have been legally prescribed,
By a well paid family physician.
And...
Given the title,
Of their primary care doctor.
Although,
I too must admit...
No one I know or have met to know,
A relative or neighbor, friend or foe...
Living near or within a gated community.
Can or ever could excuse,
Their domestic violent activities...
Heard and known to be committed,
On family members done to do...
To blame their mental derangement,
On a medical chemical imbalance.
Then...
With the use of their social status.
Well known and upheld pretentiousness.
Can escape from being arrested.
Regardless if standing outside.
Bobbing and weaving to stagger.
Smelling of alcohol and drunk.
And naked from head to toe.
Yet asked...
By several policemen called to the scene,
If...
A cup of hot coffee,
Ordered the way they like it.
Would soothe them down.
Without it being necessary for anyone,
Being embarrassed...
By what is clearly,
A family misunderstanding.
That has been overblown.
To needlessly attract media attention.
'Did you hear what the police did?'
'No.
We had made some popcorn.
Brought our lawn chairs out.
To watch both couples living in the house,
Hug while standing naked.
Explain what they were drinking,
Before the 'Swap' began.'
'Well...
From what I understand,
They all are very familiar with each other.
Intimately!'
'Do you remember...
How peaceful and quiet,
The neighborhood was and had been...
Before we started to claim,
Ethnic diversity was lowering...
Our quality of life?
Only to be told to look in the mirror.
And now the entire neighborhood,
Is filled with lowlife, decadent...
Lust worshippers.'
'Yeah!
And twice a week their activities,
Makes me sick to my stomach.
Unfold that extra lawn chair.
Sit and be disgusted with us.
If you want a beer grab one from the frig.
This neighborhood is falling to pieces.
Now look at the cops.
Twerking!'
'Well...
Being who we are has it benefits!'
