The LORD Our Protector
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I lift my eyes unto the hills,
From whence comes of my rendered aid;
For curing any of my ills,
Confident not being afraid.
My assistance comes from the Lord,
Who created Heaven and earth;
Knowing that I am not ignored,
Since He watches me since my birth.
He will not let your foot be moved,
He who keeps you will not slumber;
Because of Him I have behooved,
Everything that I encumber.
The Lord is truly my keeper,
And is the shade with His right hand;
For I will not be a weeper,
With joy following His command.
The sun shall not strike me by day,
Nor the moon to smite me by night;
Because I constantly obey,
To follow and stay in His light.
The Lord will keep me from evil,
While He shall preserve my soul;
As He shields me from the devil,
And letting Him be in control.
The Lord will keep your going out,
And as well as your coming in;
For freeing you from any doubt,
From this time forth from any sin.
