Projected Perceptions
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
It would leave many of us,
Left grieving in horror.
If our projected perceptions,
Were suddenly removed...
From our ability to camouflage,
Truth to live as intended.
Instead of pretending,
Division has nothing to do...
With the increasing presence,
Of ethnic diversity.
Conflicting with the image of superiority.
And who has proven,
Without attempting...
To steal and claim ownership of it.
Is common sense to use it.
Competence to show it had.
And confident of having the intelligence,
Not to demand that a power to obtain it...
Will change the consciousness,
Of those limited in awareness.
For them ultimately will achieve...
'For them ultimately will achieve...
What?'
'I am seeking for something positive,
To say.
With it believed,
Anything they will choose to do...
Leaves the people feeling proud.'
'About the act?
Or the image imitated.
Cemented in pretense,
Without hint or clue of substance?
And...
Who will be hired and paid,
To perform subservient deeds?'
'Well...
One thing they will not find to excuse?'
'Oh?
And what will that be?'
'Trying to blame those doing their best,
To prevent them looking less than...
Wow.
This is tough.
Looking less than...'
'Let's not think about it.
Since it will only leave us depressed,
Coming up with something positive...
To believe they will choose,
Without negative accusations made.'
'Perhaps their accusations made,
Will be positive.'
'And the best pizza I have ever eaten,
Was made with artificial dough.
And plastic mozzarella, onions...
Green peppers.
Chewy cardbord sausage with pepperoni.'
'Was it an eight or twelve piece pizza?'
'I didn't buy a whole pizza.
Just a slice.'
'Where did you buy it?'
'If I said I was lieing,
Would you believe me?'
'Lieing to me about what to believe?
'Folks?
We are living in times,
When even lieing to people...
While lieing to them is disbelieved.
Can you believe it?
To then have it left to wonder,
What difference...
Does being normal make?
And why is it,
So many are desperately in need...
To have this missed craziness back!'
'Who are you talking to?'
