Fearing Life To Live It
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
What purpose is served,
Living a life blessed to receive it.
Thinking of fear and threats.
Prepared with each cycle of breath.
To defend against,
What has yet to appear...
Close or near one's doorstep.
What purpose is served,
Feeding a mind fed on negativity.
In the hope to confirm,
Rumors and their lies...
Told to fiction and delude until believed.
So many of us are consumers.
And sold to buy anything,
Smiling and looking appetizing to eat.
Then routinely blame to claim,
We can not continue to digest...
What we do to ourselves.
To accuse someone else.
As we seek the advice,
Of someone qualified to be a doctor.
Telling us to make it clear,
Something other than truth...
We don't accept or wish to hear.
'Doctor?
I know you told me what I should do.
But...
Suppose I do,
What I choose to do myself.
What affect should I expect?'
'Don't worry yourself about that.
I am here for you.
And will do my best,
To keep you updated and appropriately...
Medicated.'
'Okay.
Sounds good to me.'
'Pleased and relieved.
I am that you agree with me!'
Oh...
How we rush to our places,
To pray faithfully.
That God delivers us,
From our threats and fears.
Accompanied by flowing tears.
Yet...
Choose we do delusion and denial.
Even with tools to use,
Refusing them to receive free.
We leave them behind.
To appease our messed up,
Normalized minds to depend upon...
Cures and remedies.
In the hope not to end,
Our dysfunctions to have them noticed...
Gone.
Unaccepted or approved to be,
An unhappy way to live a life...
Free.
Without whining to complain about,
Something.
'Doctor?
I'm calling to cancel my appointment.'
'You are?
Why?'
'I am feeling terrific.
Close to feeling guilty.'
'Guilty?
Why?'
'That's how great I feel.
No fears do I have.
None.
Not even imagined threats.
Gone they are.
Can you believe it?
And...
I will not be needing any medications!'
'YOU...WHAT?
WHAT ON EARTH...
IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?
TAKE MY ADVICE,
AND KEEP THIS TO YOURSELF!'
