Prayers in a poem
Jacqueline Beard 1986 (California)
Prayers are all that hold me up now,
'cuz with out you I just keep falling,
Tears creep in to take smiles captive,
My choice to 'just let it be' is stalling,
Getting caught up in my thoughts,
As I try to look ahead to brighter days,
Desiring to end my past,
As I change my wicked ways,
Heartache envelopes me,
Depression to overwhelming to explain,
Looking for answers in your word,
Seeking your light;
When overcome with rain,
Knowing that I'm ready to and willing,
But so unsure what steps to take,
"Where do I go from here dear God"
Mold me now as I shatter and break,
I'm giving it up to you Lord,
Shape and shift me as you please,
Bend and build me new,
In your design, take me now,
While here on bended knees,
Forgive me Lord, for my past choices,
And direct me thru your chosen paths,
Take me to a life that will forever last,
Create a new creature today dear God,
Make the best shine out of me,
Take all the pieces up from the floor,
Replace only what you want there it be,
Show me what it means dear God,
To know a trust so open and full,
Teach me faith and preserverance,
Show me patience when I want to fold,
Keep me sane in times of hurting,
when tempted provide courage completely,
Show me your abundant love shape me -shift me... Lord complete me,
Keep my family inside your hands,
Lead and guide us day by day,
Show us comfort in times of fear,
Teach us how to live your way,
Give me strength to be a mommy,
Tenacity to become a wife,
Provide me with the love I need,
To over come the hate I've felt in life,
Protect us with your blood dear God,
Take our hands and show us how,
Light and guide the path that reaches you,
Teach us how to make you proud,
In Jesus name I come to you.... Amen...
