Reckoning
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Assessing to appraise,
A direction one thinks is best to take.
Is not always achieved to accomplish,
The desired result.
To perceive as it should be.
Or even right to administer cautiously.
Before impulsively done.
To satisfy the pleasing of a need.
Thoughtlessly.
Few sit to evaluate the price to pay.
Then to themselves to ask,
What is it being reckoned with?
And if it would make a difference,
To think over how they became involved.
With it then to self examine,
After the action of reckoning taken.
As to whose thought process...
Had been used to borrow.
Without identifying the absent use,
Of common sense!
