Advice
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
The best advice,
To others one can give.
As to how to avoid,
Nonsense and its foolishness.
That recognizes to identify,
Ignorance for what it is.
Is to first observe,
Nonsense and its foolishness...
To identify it recognized,
Within oneself to let it go.
And only then one can advise,
Others unable to listen and hear...
To stop.
And pay attention as to what they do.
Done.
Without making excuses.
Refusing to believe it seen,
Just In others.
And not themselves,
To stop,
Being childish and irresponsible adults.
'What do you mean?
Do you know how old I am?'
'Yes I do.
But I have learned to experience,
Myself.
Growing older,
Does not make one grow up.
Tough is the challenge.
With obstacles to face.
On a rough winding road.
And that to accomplish it,
Takes being...
Accountable and responsible,
For one's own actions.
Without claiming to blame anyone else,
To excuse...
Whatever you do to do it done!
Seeking sweetened acceptance.
Life to live,
Has its critics to critique...
Every step and move one makes.
This...
Is the bitter truth.
Of a reality free of deluded fiction.'
'And...
How old are you?'
'Old enough,
To have long learned that lesson!'
'But...
I have children of my own.'
'God bless them.
And hopefully they will grow up.
To become responsible adults.
And not stay,
The children you raised them to be!
If...
You allow them to grow up.
And...
Encourage them to become,
Proud of themselves as grown adults!'
