Adulteress
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
Hard and calloused; cold and silent
That’s the way I see you
I hope that I won’t learn your ways
I sure don’t want to be you
But still there is a reason
Why I should be grateful to you
You turned me off to sex for good
I don’t even want to see you
Your body used to drive me nuts
And you could make me crazy
But now the hole thing turns me off
So, you can call me lazy
Just like the beer and cigarettes
God took away the desire
He showed me how you really looked
And now no one can light my fire
To do evil isn’t enough for you
You have to take it farther
You open the wound and rub it in
It just makes your heart harder
I’d ask you where you go from here
But you’ll just find another buyer
I don’t think it matters much
Because all men are liars
