The Song of Judah
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
On that day this song will be sung,
Of the strong city in this land;
On the walls salvation is strung,
As the voice of God did command.
Open the gates to enter in,
The righteous nation that keeps trust;
With a faith that will avoid sin,
Temptations that will lure the lust.
You are keeping the perfect peace,
Whose mind has been stayed upon you;
Praying to the Lord not to cease,
Because of knowing what is true.
Because of faith you put your trust,
Trusting in the Lord forever;
Knowing He is faithful and just,
Everlasting and not sever.
The Lord is an eternal rock,
He is an everlasting strength;
He listens to you as you talk,
Helps to preserve at any length.
The inhabitants are humble,
That dwell in the lofty city;
Never hearing any grumble,
While the Lord keeps all pretty.
He lays it low unto the ground,
Casting it all into the dust;
His foot tramples without a sound,
Securing from any wind gust.
Because of the feet of the poor,
Also the steps of the needy;
Will feel the salvation adore,
And trample those who are seedy.
