Our Apostle and High Priest
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
You share a heavenly calling,
With Christ of our confession;
Because Adam and His falling,
We admit in a profession.
Who was faithful and ordained Him,
As faithful to the House of God;
Appointed with spiritual vim,
For blessing who honor and laud.
Jesus has been counted worthy,
Much more glory as the builder;
For comforting those who worry,
Because that they do bewilder.
Every house is built by someone.
The builder of all things is God;
Moses was faithful what was done,
Ensuring that it was not flawed.
He was a servant in His home,
Testified things that were spoken;
Though forty years they did roam,
But His faith was never broken.
Christ is faithful being the Son,
And as we are His house indeed;
Holding fast to confidence won,
Boasting in the hope to succeed.
