Life like a candle

Life of a candle

Just like a candle our life has a start and an end.

The wick is our lifeline, our journey.

It all starts fresh and new

But before you’re ready to live it.

Before you’re ready to fully live life.

You need to be lit up.

And the only one who can do that is you.

They say that you will die faster if you live life the fullest.

Just like a candle.

But isn’t that the point?

Don’t you buy a candle to lit it up?

To see it glow, to see it at its prettiest,

To use it where it is meant for?

We are meant to enjoy the time that we have on this planet.

And just like candles when our time on this planet is over, there will be new ones.

So for this little time we have here, make it count

Make it worth.

Don’t be that candle who’s covered in dust

Don’t be that candle that never got the change to be lit up.

About this poem

Before I wrote this poem, I was staring at a candle that I had for a long time. It was all covered in dust. When I lit the candle up I was suprised by how beautiful it was and how amazing it smelled. It made me realize what a shame it was that I didn´t used it for such a long time. It reminded me that sometimes you will have to do things first to see the beauty of it.
