Apostle and High Priest
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
You who share heavenly calling,
Consider Jesus the High Priest;
The One who stops you from falling,
And will be preparing the feast.
Apostle of a profession,
Who was faithful and appointed;
The One for our confession,
Purifying of the anointed.
Moses was faithful in His house,
But Jesus counted worthy more;
Being faithful He will espouse,
Anoint you and making you pure.
Much more glory as the builder,
Make a house with more honor;
A refuge for the bewilder,
Place of worship for the fawner.
For every house that had been built,
The builder of all things is God;
Relieving people of their guilt,
Attending to honor and laud.
Moses was a faithful servant,
Proven of things spoken later;
A faith that was pure and fervent,
Only Jesus as one greater.
Christ is faithful being the Son,
We hold fast to a confidence;
Boasting a hope of what was done,
With a faith as our defense.
