Heard To Hear Said
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
In the land of pettiness shared.
And laziness rewarded.
For its mediocrity achieved everywhere.
Folks compare themselves to others.
With it done.
And...
Too often heard to hear it said,
Who is not doing enough.
To get it done for the approval of some.
The some of the few with huge mouths.
Doing nothing else but complain.
In public protest to object.
To make their petty concerns the main topic.
Then dare to blame their complaints to claim,
That the nothingness they do to contribute.
Is more noticeable to be observed.
And on a daily basis viewed.
But a credit given for the doing,
Of whatever it is they do...
They are heard to hear it said,
Those who deliberately attempt to achieve...
With their efforts to endeavor?
Are only seeking to get attention.
For themselves.
Yet this no one is heard to hear mentioned.
As if this benefits the quality of life,
For anyone else.
To have it pretended everywhere that it does!
How blatant can such selfishness get?
'If they are or had been ALL of THAT,
With a getting of things done.
Why is it they seem to have no time,
To party and socialize with the rest of us?
Talking about what it is we are going to do!
At least we know what our intentions are.
Done to keep them mentioned and updated.'
'Ain't that the truth.
But,
Maybe...
Maybe its the hors d'oeuvres?'
'The what?'
'You know,
Those little sandwiches.
I mean, come on...
Where are the ribs, potato salad and greens?'
'Whether that's true or not.
Guess what?
They could have at least donated something,
Towards the DJ fee and the open bar.
Like the rest of us do.
Who are challenged to support,
The community as best we can.
But overlooked are our charitable activities!'
