From Different Distant Shores
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
If people from different places,
Are heard to share similar thoughts.
To hear them said.
Perhaps and just maybe,
They have become aware...
Of the same message.
And...
On distant shores,
Told to be crazy and ignored.
By the ones who ask if anyone knows,
What is going on around them.
Gone from minds not to understand,
Reality to deny...
Does not cement the function of fiction.
However...
Want it made understood to comprehend.
Coming out of the mouths of those,
Known to lie about truth to do it sincerely.
Is a reason to feel threatened.
And a need to defend a living in denial,
With weapons to protect themselves...
From rumors of peace coming to take away,
Their entitled rights to kill each other.
But in a civilized,
Licensed to kill appropriate way!
'How cynical can you be?'
'I apologize.
I had forgotten about leaving my remarks,
Kept to keep on deluded levels.'
'Yeah man.
Nobody wants to hear that stuff.
Cynical or sarcastic.
People become sensitive,
When they are compared to barbarians.
Claiming a love for guns to hunt.'
'Hypocrisies have reach new heights.
And they are the very ones,
Taking pictures of bears....
Wolves, Bobcats and Mountain lions.
Bigfoot and other alien creatures,
Munching on snacks left in THEIR backyards.
Hoping to get close enough to take 'selfies'.
With it then to claim this activity,
Is part of their freedom of speech.
Check this out.
And when these wild creatures are found,
Inside of their houses...
Looking through cupboards.
Refrigerators,
And under beds for more snacks.
These folks are discovered outside,
On cellphones.
Done to call the police,
When shooting themselves.
Accidently to say,
They had been cleaning a gun.
Not used nor locked with its safety on.
And not a word to mention,
About a bear, mountain lion or Bigfoot.
But...
Reports seeing unusual people,
Roaming in and out of a neighbor's house.
What do you sayabout that?'
'I would have concerns too.
Especially if I had not seen or met,
People going in and out...
Of someone else's house.
And my neighbor acting as if,
They know who they are.
That's a reason for anyone to have guns.'
