Quick And Fast Are The Changes
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
So sad are these times,
To see parents actually believing...
Themselves to be in full control,
Of what goes in and out of their children's...
Ears, mouths and minds.
With attempts to confine them,
To restricted limits censored to accept.
So sad and fast have changes been made.
Even yesterday for many is considered,
A fad of the past that has gone away.
Done to have lived it.
But not committed to keep revisited.
And this to admit,
Seems not allowed to permit.
By the ones not only losing their grip,
On a reality that is they have ignored to live.
But also,
A kept fiction of it...
Everyone should delude and keep prioritized.
And with this not to notice,
A normalizing of their own mental craze...
Is nothing to value, worship or praise.
Not these days to discourage truth and reality,
As threats to reject and replace...
With an ignorance to describe to save,
Humanity from becoming...
Too intelligent to control and rule over!
'You know...
I graduated from Harvard and Yale.
To hear,
As I walked along the streets of Manhattan.
These...
Let's see,
These...
Urban inner city dwellers,
To best describe them.
Discussing their stocks and bonds.'
'And...
This should validate a point you are making?'
'No. No. No!
I'm not saying I am a racist.
Or that their ethnic diversity,
Had been so modestly identified.
But...
At least I know credentials obtained like mine,
Has its duty to give them...
A dignified appearance.'
'Had you never before visited New York City?'
'Correct.
No I had not.
Why do you ask?'
'So...
You just knew to know,
These urban inner city dwellers...
Could not be possibly,
Visiting professors from Harvard and Yale.
And...
I don't want to assume this.
Since you announced you are not racist.
Were those 'Urban Inner City Dwellers',
Black with dreads.
And walking with a proud arrogant identity?'
'I...uh...
Well,
That I did not notice!'
'Quick, rapid and extremely fast,
Is the mind updating the face of change.
Their face,
Of change.'
'And...
What is that suppose to mean?
You know I have close friends.
That happen to be Negroes.
And proud to let my neighbors know,
I enjoy having colored people in my home.'
'It's embedded, isn't it?
It's an effective way to stay,
Away from comprehending...
What most regard as a novelty?
Or a negative reflection,
Of a positive image they have to want...
By others to imitate.'
'I have no idea,
What this to me should mean.'
'I know.
And which makes any explanation,
A waste of time on a mind...
Claiming to be blind to one's color.
And you say,
You were born an American citizen?'
'Yes.
Why do you ask?'
'To verify my hunger to feed,
A curiosity I still can not believe...
How so many people can take for granted,
Anything they say to folks like me...
Can be done to easily deceive reality.
Thanks.
You do a good job of it too.
And the next time you look at a calendar?
Notice the year is 2022.'
