In Need Of Love
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
We are more in need of love.
To show it to know it.
And felt to feel it real.
We are more in need of love.
Words heard don't do it.
To hear them heard that proves it.
How can anyone who claims to love.
Lie, deceive and demean.
Then speak wrongs of another.
And not expect this from others.
How can anyone who claims to love.
Go to their churches and pray.
Leave and then display,
Teachings of what's evil.
Heard from a preacher to say,
Those in the pews do this everyday.
But who is left to know love?
To know it real.
And kept to feel, it.
Who expresses their love?
Shown.
To make it known.
Who expresses their love?
With a giving it up.
Who gives and receives,
That love to need...
Leaving them feeling inside empty.
Who gives and receives,
That love in need.
Others take to leave them empty.
Who without words,
Show a returning of love.
To others in need.
Who without words,
Show a returning of love.
Although we show with it quick to know,
What it is we hate.
To discriminate.
Although we show with it quick to know,
What it is we don't appreciate.
With done to express our hypocrites.
To serve as an appetite to crave.
Everyday.
Then call ourselves 'Christians'.
In need to be feeding on love.
But...
Can't give it up.
That love.
To feel it real felt,
As a need to give and receive.
No!
We can't give it up.
To feel what is real!
We would rather pretend.
And defend our pretensions!
Never heard are protesters demanding...
'WHAT DO WE WANT?
MORE LOVE.
AND WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
NOW!'
