Holding Burdens
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
If someone is caught in a sin,
And overtaken by a fault;
Letting the restoration begin,
Through a confession to be sought.
Watch out for a gentle spirit,
That you are not tempted as well;
Supporting with righteous merit,
So that the Law of Christ will dwell.
Carry burdens of another.
Something with nothing does deceive;
To examine each other,
For tribulations to relieve.
Let someone examine his deeds,
Of himself that he would take pride;
But by comparing his own needs,
To release the load deep inside.
Receive instructions in the Word,
Throughout the Scriptures what you sought;
Comprehending what you have heard,
Share all the good things it has taught.
Be not deceived others has sown,
Never mock God what you shall reap;
Through Christ is where the truth is known,
The Shepherd looks after His sheep.
Sowing your own reaps corruption,
His Spirit reaps eternal life;
He sows only after redemption,
Easing the burden of the strife.
Grow not weary in doing good,
In due time we righteously reap;
Perseverance doing as we should,
That the Lord ensures our keep.
So whenever we have a chance,
Let us do good to each other;
For believers as to advance,
To any sister or brother.
