Welcome to Hell

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

I have a little fan
That’s blowing on me in the heat
But it is just a stinking little fan
The air doesn’t reach my feet
If it was any hotter here
I would wish that I was dead
But that was how I got here now
I should wish to live instead
But if I did the things I did
When I was living then
Now that I know the truth
I would suffer shame that never ends
But surely now I would change that
And I would change my friends
If only I could live once more
I would try to make amends
