Escaping Away
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Escaping away.
From the chase of temptations.
And the ease of them,
Made available to lust.
Is a part of life.
In a culture that invites it.
Honorable are those,
Attempting to keep...
Their hypocrisies discreet and to themselves.
Yet seen and caught,
In darkened corners hoping to protect...
Whatever is left of their self righteousness.
So difficult it is,
Wanting to be above others to perceive...
Their activities are beneath the ones,
Declared to be sinners out to leech.
And not amongst those reflecting perfection.
A perfection to create although dismissed.
When they are observed and witnessed,
Walking around or driving through...
Red light districts.
Searching while seeking to pick up a piece,
Of a one night stand.
Hoping not to be seen,
Doing anything to satisfy a need for trash!
The nastier the better the taste.
And that is the realty,
Hypocrites live when masked.
To eliminate the condoning to censor,
Others incapable to be equally disgusting.
And less fortunate to afford,
To escape away after paying to display...
A heat that rises in the streets.
Sneaking around.
Cheating on their mates.
Or...
Whoever tolerates this arranged B.S.
But can not find between expensive sheets,
Warm welcoming shoulders in cold beds.
Where they live to feel as if a stranger!
No matter how much one begs to pay,
The price to pretend of having interest!
