What do I see

I see the regrets
I see the fear…the suffering.
No matter the affiliation of imagined status. I see the humility.
I tend to the tears. I tend to the fears.  I tend to the anger because of the fear.
 They yet don’t understand.
They are strangers to themselves.
Tears confuse them.
The uncertainty humbles them in time.
Sometimes it’s too late for others to see the purpose that is theirs . Sometimes the purpose never existed…. Till I see their regrets … till I see their fear.

About this poem

I derive many of my thoughts from the type of work I do as a Trauma Nurse. A bit strong but It’s a sort of release for me. This poem was inspired when taking care of a particular gang member admitted for multiple gunshot wounds.
