The Far-Fetched

Do you remember the path,
where we first met and twirled?
With saplings and flowers, and
all the joy in the world.
That led to a place far-fetched
and filled our hearts with peace and warmth.

Do you remember how beautifully
the butterflies danced,
to the birds that sang?

To a place like that, it’s been long
And I have been forgetful.
To a place like that, it’s been long
Or have I been forgetful?

I went there again, bewildered.
It had a hole dug right in the middle,
as deep and dark as a night on a no-moon day
No springs, no birds, no dance
no songs, no rains, not a chance.

Just a barren land that soaked and gulped
yet remained parched with droughts
The tender blossoms that once were alive
were mourning as if someone had died

And I was tired, tired to my bones
of all the sight, of all the moans.
Some things end up in the worst possible way
like we are in a nightmare, far away.
