All In the Oughtness
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
All...
Lost.
In the oughtness of it.
What ought to have been done.
When that time came to come.
Was not thought a priority to anyone.
What was to see,
Conflicting with truth to delude reality.
Was dismissed as a passing fad.
Today,
Many are seen,
Squeezing in 'standing room only' spaces.
On a bandwagon full,
Of recovering to awaken naysayers.
Regretting what they've ought to have done.
But did not do,
To jump on a bandwagon too fast moving...
Not up.
But down a hill.
With a doing to believe,
The wheels falling off of it...
Is for them not a need to achieve progress.
'Uh...
I know you all believe,
You are close to winning a race you are in.
However...
If you all stop cheering to notice,
The driver of the bandwagon...
Has abandoned your expectations.
And the wind you feel blowing in your faces?
Well...
Shouldn't this be on your backs to push?
And the wheels on the wagon are gone.
I'm just bringing this to your attention.
Since that valley you all left sometime ago?
Seems to be getting closer!
I'm just saying.
One never knows,
Who and what...
Is being more celebrated these days!
Failure?
Or the success of it to accomplish.'
"...get up,
From the downstroke.
Everybody get up.
Wave your hands in the air.
Wave them like you just don't care.
And...
Shake your booty to the roof.
And...
Shake your booty to the roof.
Shake your booty to the roof.
And...
Shake your booty to the roof.
Now...SCREAM!
LIKE YOU MEAN IT WITH AN OUGHTNESS,
SCREAM!!"
