Scripted
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
If you want to give me something,
You know nothing about.
Stop and try to find in your heart,
A feeling felt you can define as love.
And then,
Using only your mind.
Take as much time as you need.
Since you have already shown to me,
Love to say it and feel honestly...
Is just another performance.
To deliver then leave.
And that to give to me or anyone else,
Is not acceptable to buy and keep treasured.
The act of it is outdated.
Overdone and lacks sincerity.
Now...
Put that script down.
You carry around where we live in this house.
Reciting a word learned,
Written by someone else.
And leave me to decide,
If your feeling for me is genuine.
'I'll try.
But from where do you want me to begin?'
'You know...
When you told me you were an actor.
Years ago.
And committed as if addicted to it.
I had no idea,
Just how deeply your addiction had been.'
'But...
You were the one who enjoyed,
Role-playing with me.
Every time I asked,
If climaxing had been on the next page?
You would either say yes or no.
Depending on which room we were in.
And if the lights were left on!'
'I think...
We should divorce.
Or at least consider a separation.'
'Wait a minute.
What act is that in?
I can't seem to find that,
Anywhere written in this script.
Which page is that on?'
