Said To Say It Heard Again
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
A thought once expressed,
To upset, appall and offend those pretentious.
With a doing to bring attention,
For reasons meant to do it done then.
When noses upturned,
Assumed they had earned...
Leadership positions.
And status with their names mentioned.
Have these days exposed themselves to be,
Incompetent idiots lacking common sense.
To be called that from the inside.
Not from the outside.
By their own compatriots,
Publicly denouncing them to make it clear...
Clowns made fools can no longer prove,
Intelligence to imitate it had...
Has been a sad delusion to keep it fictioned.
'Your comments are disgusting.
Irresponsible and noticeably unpatriotic.
Embarrassing, disrespectful.
And filled with venom spewed!'
'Me?
I'm not the one calling any of you idiots.
You're calling yourselves that.
When I called you distantly ignorant?
I still held onto hope and faith,
That one day my exaggerations...
No one would take literally.
However...
Today?
Grim are the reapers...
Clucking as if chickens,
Plucking their own feathers.
Once to flaunt like untouchable peacocks.
Willing now to acknowledge and openly say,
They have sewn their own homegrown...
Stupidity.
And...
Not my words but yours I have heard!
To have sought to seek power to grab it.
Now wishing to disguise,
Loads of toilet paper being delivered.
Hoping to hide the wiping away,
The lofty droppings of their aspirations!'
'This stuff is nuts!'
'Oh?
Those were my words you once thought,
Too critical, too disrespectful and appalling.
And now you find them nuts?
Not crazed out of their minds?
Unconscious and blinded by power!'
