Unity Yet Diversity
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
For just as the body is one,
The body has many members;
So it is with Jesus the Son,
His mansion has many chambers.
In one Spirit we were baptized,
Into just one body with Christ;
Each part is legitimatized,
Each one has a duty sufficed.
All made to drink of one Spirit,
The body consists of masses;
Each one having its own merit,
No part each other outclasses.
The foot does not work for the hand,
As well as the eyes cannot hear;
Less feet the body cannot stand,
And we do not see through the ear.
If the whole body was an eye,
How would we be able to hear;
The hair could never make us cry,
When troubled or having a fear.
There is a purpose to each part,
For sensing comfort and danger;
Allowing both the mind and heart,
Feels when there is joy or anger.
God had arranged each body part,
A single member where to be;
Being controlled by mind and heart,
In doing what He would decree.
So how would the body exist,
If another part took control;
One part decided to resist,
That could cause you to lose your soul.
