Lights and Your Love

I see the lights glisten on the walls around me
I take a deep breath and engulf in what I see
Lights shimmer and I feel warmth in my heart
Shining together they will never be apart
In the darkest of days I remember who you were
My Sister your heart was always so pure
When I woke up that morning and talked to Dad
My heart instantly stopped beating I was so sad
This world never was meant for you to be gone
So many memories with you in every song
Tears fall in the dark when I miss you so much
Just wish Sissy I could feel your touch
This Christmas is not the same without you here
It’s so hard to go on without you it’s not fare
So as the lights glisten I think of the love you gave
Never knowing how you could be so brave
Lights shimmer and tears fall down my face
Hoping to just go to sleep and have all this erase
Rest easy my Sister I’m sorry I wasn’t always there
I wish I could tell you in person that I do care
As the lights of Christmas shine all around us all
Just one wish and that’s for heaven to let you call

About this poem

I wrote this for my big Sister. She died July 10, 2022 in her sleep. No cause that we know of yet! Just remember to hold on to memories! Sometimes they are all you got…
