Growing Not Weary
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Surrounded by a cloud of people,
Let us lay aside every weight;
Sin clings tight outside the temple,
That many have sealed their own fate.
Let us run with the endurance,
The race that is set before us;
As patience gives us assurance,
And enabled for to win thus.
We look to Jesus as founder,
Of our faith as the perfecter;
A boulder that has been sounder,
To Heaven as the connector.
Joy was set before He endured,
Despising shame upon the cross;
On the right hand of God assured,
As our gain came from His loss.
He endured the hostility,
Against Himself from the sinners;
Has given the ability,
Believers to become winners.
Having your struggle against sin,
You have still not yet resisted;
Shedding blood for cleansing within,
Temptations that have persisted.
You forgot the exhortation,
That speaks to you as His child;
Despise not the condemnation,
Because you have been defiled.
For the Lord disciplines the one,
Chastises the one He does love;
To be His daughter or son,
For believing in Him thereof.
