Self conscious

If I were to shed my ego, my self, my identity,
Would the world be better, freer from my vanity?
Or would existence be distorted, unrecognizable,
By nothing and everything, a reality, unfathomable?

Perhaps my disengagement would be creation itself,
A new beginning, a rebirth from chaos, from the shelf
Of old ways, old habits, old patterns of thought,
A chance to break free, to break out of the knot.

But what does it mean to disengage with self,
To let go of the "I" that defines our wealth?
Is it possible, or just a philosophical dream,
An ideal we strive for, but never truly redeem?

Would the universe miss my essence?
Or would it carry on, unfazed,
As if my existence never mattered,
As if I were never raised?

Would the emptiness that's left behind
Distort the very fabric of reality,
Or would it be a creation in itself,
A new form of spiritual vitality?

Only by letting go can we truly find
A deeper connection, a unity of the mind,
With all that surrounds us, all that exists,
A oneness that persists, beyond any lists.

A way to create, to connect
Ego, self, Identity
Constructs of our mind
Language and thought
Connection to being
We create existence
To the world and all that lives within,
A new perspective, a chance to begin.

Perhaps, perhaps not
To reborn,
Rising from the chaos of destruction
Into a world that's yet to be formed.

As my ego fades away,
Leaving behind a new creation,
A selfless being, unafraid to stray
As I wonder without ego in my dreams
When my thoughts are not consumed by "I"
I become selfless and flawless
In your eyes.
