Like poison in the air...
The world has gone dry...
Even though it has been raining...
Through the cracks that we’ve created,
Swallowed by the earth that is offended.
The greed we've shown,
Like poison in the air, dispersed,
All that is plastic is what we parade,
Mercilessly killing all that is ready to bloom.
Then comes the cry for hoax justice,
Forcing light and darkness to mingle,
Like blending truth and lies–a taboo.
And have ourselves shoot on the foot.
The eyes of the beholder turned blind,
To the bleeding nature in greens,
To the scorching skies that burns,
And to the dying lands that collapse.
The acidic cries from the grey above,
The corruption within the crawling mass,
Cold that burns, and hot that cools,
Abracadabra, the world has upturned.
And now we walk on the ruins,
A perfect masterpiece of our actions,
Gone is the humanity upon our bruises,
The reality can be scary at times.
About this poem
I am someone who is always afraid of too many changes at once. Sometimes it would be overwhelming for me to handle multiple changes happening simultaneously, and I prefer to take things one step at a time to ensure that I can adjust properly. I wrote this poem as a reflection of my thoughts and emotions toward these changes. From the changes in nature like global warming, more frequent wildfires, longer periods of drought in some regions, and an increase in the duration and intensity of tropical storms. The imbalance, as well as the societal changes that have occurred in recent times. The poem serves as an outlet for me to express my feelings and helps me cope with the stress that comes with adapting to new situations. It allows me to process my thoughts and emotions in a creative way. So I describe everything as poison, that hurts me, and take time to leave my system. more »
