Why

Why is everybody dying,
so many mothers on the streets crying
waiting for their babies to get home but they’re never going to show
I’ll never quite understand what’s wrong with this world how life can be so unfair
Parents shouldn’t have to see their children go, nobody’s child should ever be unrecognizable, what’s wrong with the world?
So many things and I’m afraid of what’s to come but I just pray it’s nothing like what’s been done,
Lives taken too soon and there’s nothing I can really do,
so I sit here and I write it’s quite literally like my mic.
Lately I feel like I’m surrounded by death, people in my circle are grieving daily and what am I to do?
Another guy beat to death down the street, children shot to sleep, mothers withering with grief, medicine not being enough to defeat a disease.
I don’t know what to do so write is what I’ll do.

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I was having trouble coming to terms with the tragic reality of life. There’s so many things out of our control, so many injustices in life. And this is about exactly that.

Writing poetry is my form of self expression, my therapy, my outlet, my everything. And I just share it in hopes that it touches someone, that it relates to someone. more…
