Defending Innocence To Protect What
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Defending to protect,
What is left of innocence.
'From an optimist's point of view?
Or from the concept and hopeful affect,
The feeling of innocence to pretend it...
Oncè had been.
Before or after,
Its existence and belief became obsolete.'
I'm not sure.
Was your comment a question or statement?
Can we just go through the motion?
Without these questions being asked,
To ponder over the answer.
That could well be just a statement.
'Then,
Who are you trying to convince,
Your defending...
Whatever is left of innocence to defend it.
Means anything worth believing in,
To state or question your motive.'
That is something that has yet,
Left any of us to consider to mention.
But good question.
Since our opponent has taken common sense,
As their campaign slogan.
With a hope their persistence begins a trend,
Of thinking as a painless thought process.
That left us to choose innocence,
As our weapon of choice!
'To use how?'
I guess,
As our motive.
With innocence as our choice to choose.
Thank you for that suggestion.
'Hey...
Don't premeditated me being involved,
In your decision to choose innocence...
As a choice you chose to use as your weapon.
Although I must admit,
You would be better to believe than I would.'
Don't be such a pessimist.
I have been a virgin more than once.
'WHAT?'
Innocence to claim,
Is not difficult at all.
Have you ever been married?
'Not yet, why?'
Ask anyone who has married.
To have discovered being divorced.
Innocence to pretend it becomes an art.
With a knowing when to save a marriage.
Instead of losing an investment,
By volunteering to be the honest one...
All the time.
'You mean, lie?'
On knees, if necessary!
'On knees?
I'm not getting on my knees for anyone.'
I understand.
Are you left or right hand.
Which one do you use the most?
'I use both.
Why?'
